Tattoo Parlors and Shops
Tattoo Parlors are places where people can go to get tattoos, and often piercings as well. Tattoo parlors commonly feature large galleries of artwork, which a customer can browse in order to choose tattoo or piercing design if they are unsure of what to get. In many cases, a skilled tattoo artist can recreate a picture provided by the customer, or can interpret the customer's instruction to create a custom tattoo. Be sure to discuss the procedure and expected results with a tattoo artist before deciding to have it done.
When in the market for a tattoo, one of the primary factors to note when browsing tattoo parlors is safety. It's important that the tattoo artist works with sterile equipment and uses the proper precautions to prevent infection of a tattooed or pierced area. Infection is the most common risk of getting a tattoo, and most artists will inform you on how to properly care for the tattooed area to avoid this.
Most modern tattoo parlors are equipped with tattoo machines, commonly referred to as "guns" by the layperson. This machine uses needles to insert ink into the skin. With most machines, the needles are being driven in and out of the skin as quickly as 150 times per second. Tattooing can be painful, but is generally safe and sanitary.
